Mike leads FFN’s communications team. He has worked in marketing and public policy communications since 2005 when he joined Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. He was involved in strategic messaging supporting creation of the Sixpence Early Learning Fund and development of NCFF’s award-winning “Rethink Your Reaction” child abuse prevention campaign.

In 2009, Mike and his family relocated to South Carolina where he worked on communications projects for the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, South Carolina’s BabyNet (IDEA) program for early developmental screenings and interventions and Glenforest School, a K-12 program focused on the educational needs of children with disabilities.

Mike returned to the Cornhusker State with the launch of First Five Nebraska in 2012. Since then, he has focused heavily on communications efforts to engage business and economic leaders in early childhood issues. Most recently, he was project lead on FFN’s “My Nebraska Story” and “Meet Your Future” campaigns.

Mike received a B.A. in English from the College of New Jersey in 1993. He aspires to one day complete his M.A. in medieval and renaissance studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

When he is not engaged in early childhood communications work, Mike indulges his interests in history and literature. His writing on military, political, religious and cultural issues of the Middle Ages and Renaissance has been published in academic reference works from Greenwood Press.
