Urge Senators to Retain Funding for Early Care and Education

by | Mar 1, 2018

The Nebraska Legislature’s Appropriations Committee is required to present its budget bill to the full Legislature by the 40th day of the session, which is March 9 this year. The full body will subsequently debate the bill, including funding cuts to programs and initiatives supported by the General Fund. The Legislature must pass a budget bill by March 27.

We know how important quality early experiences are for children’s learning and social development, especially young children who face obstacles to their academic and lifelong success. Cuts to early childhood programs in Nebraska create too big of a risk for the small financial gains that come with reducing funding for the initiatives that serve our most vulnerable children.

There is still time to contact members of the Appropriations Committee and urge them to retain funding for early care and education programs in Nebraska. Take action today by following the links to write a letter to Senators.
