State Chamber Forums: Snapshot of Nebraska’s Economy

The Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been hosting its Fall Forums virtually and in-person across the state this month. These forums are a good way to learn how Nebraska is faring in the wake of COVID-19 and ongoing recovery efforts.

Nebraska state Chamber of Commerce logoNebraska’s economy has remained strong overall compared with other states during the pandemic due to our agricultural and manufacturing backbone, said Bryan Slone, president of the Nebraska Chamber. Other industries, such as tourism, hospitality and entertainment, have been adversely affected by stay-at-home and limited-gathering precautions.

Child care providers and early childhood programs have also been hit hard by health and safety restrictions. Slone has been consistent in the message that child care is a critical part of the economic recovery response. Quality child care enables working parents to get back to work and remain productive on the job.

Another focus of these forums is Blueprint Nebraska, a statewide plan to enhance the Nebraska’s economy, competitiveness and prosperity. Blueprint Nebraska features four growth themes with corresponding initiatives that focus on: People, Places, Government and Sectors.

The Chamber’s Fall Forums provide a dedicated time to hear directly from Nebraska state senators and candidates as we get closer to the election. This is a good opportunity for you to learn more about their efforts to promote a strong, successful future for Nebraska and our young children.

The remaining Fall Forums will be in the following communities:

  • October 23, Norfolk: Northeast Community College, 8:00-9:30 a.m. CT
  • November 4, Grand Island: Central Community College, 8:30-10 a.m. CT
