Child care providers: The Nebraska business and policy community want to hear from you

by | Apr 16, 2020

Early childhood professionals throughout Nebraska now have the opportunity to let public and private sector decision makers know how the coronavirus has already impacted the child care industry in our state. This week, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, University of Nebraska System and other partners launched the Nebraska Business Response Survey to gather insight about how businesses are navigating the ongoing crisis.

Child care programs represent an important part of Nebraska’s business landscape. Please take 10 minutes of your time to fill out this survey on how your own business has been affected by COVID-19. The survey will remain open until Friday, April 24 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. It is available in both English and Spanish language versions.

The data gathered by the survey will be used to analyze the distinct challenges faced by business owners and develop targeted strategies to restore economic growth throughout the state. Findings from the survey will also be published as a report to shed light on the overall situation of business and industry in Nebraska.

While the long-term effects of the pandemic in Nebraska are as yet unknown, one thing is clear: child care is essential to supporting working families now and as we work to recover. Providers statewide are facing difficult decisions regarding whether to remain open to support the families still working in their communities, and potentially put themselves and their families at risk, or close temporarily or permanently. As business owners, it is crucial to make sure your voices are heard by leading decision makers so we can move forward together.
