Education Committee to Hold Hearing on School Funding Bill

by | Feb 28, 2017

The Legislature's Education Committee will hold a hearing for LB521 on Tuesday, Febr. 28. We thank Senator Lynne Walz for introducing this legislation and starting the conversation about how Nebraska can strengthen its commitment to early care and education for young children at risk during a time of significant budgetary shortfall.

LB521 would adjust Nebraska's TEEOSA formula to benefit children at risk across the state regardless of their district's equalization status. We believe continuing the commitment to these children is essential to Nebraska's future economic growth and prosperity. We also recognize that any investment requires a high level of fiscal accountability so Nebraska taxpayers can be confident the dollars are verifiably allocated for this purpose.
